This training app serves as a valuable component of a comprehensive food safety program within the mushroom industry. Developed by the American Mushroom Institute (AMI), it specifically emphasizes the importance of effective handwashing practices. Proper hand hygiene remains the most critical measure employees can take to prevent cross-contamination of mushrooms, given their direct handling practices. It is imperative that workers understand both the correct handwashing procedures and the appropriate moments during their shifts when handwashing is necessary to maintain product safety.

The AMI Food Safety Training App incorporates interactive elements such as activities, videos, and quizzes designed to engage learners actively throughout the course. Upon completion, participants are assessed through a multiple-choice quiz or an activity to confirm their understanding of the material presented.
